Meet Taylor Edwards and her skate crew @unitedwefallosaka! After a short pitch to two members of Black Creatives Japan, Taylor, Ayana, and Alyse (as well as Taylor’s partner Tom) hosted their group skate in the early fall called a “Roll Out”, where all wheels were welcomed. So far there has been 3 group skate events, including a Roll Out for Justice and the most recent, a Halloween skate where attendees dressed up in some pretty sick costumes. @unitedwefallosaka’s group skates admission donations go directly to helping American organizations that benefit Black people such as Stacey Abrams organization Fair Fight. It’s important to note that Edward’s drive for activism runs in the family, as her grandfather was helped start the Seattle chapter of the Black Panther movement. The @unitedwefallosaka team is a group of skilled, wonderful BIPOC and non-BIPOC that can easily help with both street rollerskating and skateboarding. So, if you’re ever in Japan, do reach out to Taylor and her crew. Thanks so much for your awesome photos and for sharing your light with Awkward Skate. Love what you’re doing!
